Chanel's Métiers d'Art show took place this past week at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art in an area of the museum that is dedicated to Ancient Egypt, which explains a lot about the inspiration behind Karl Lagerfeld's latest collection for Chanel. There was no shortage of golden hues and metallic detailing adorning these bags. Plus, if there's any shape that is most synonymous with Ancient Egypt, it's a pyramid, so it's not shocking that Lagerfeld sent a pyramid-shaped mini-bag down the runway as well.
Lagerfeld used a palette consisting mostly of tones of black, gold and a bit of ivory, with some turquoise and blue hues thrown in too. Many clutches were seen adorned with metallic hardware and jewels, and as an ode to Coco Chanel herself, the Chanel Gabrielle Bag was re-imagined in a metallic tweed for Pre-Fall 2019.
